Available livelihood sources in Pinamungajan have long ceased to be reliant solely on fishing from the bountiful sea, or from planting crops.
This is evident in the list of top 10 taxpayers contributing to the Municipal Government’s coffers, which would show a mix of businesses, from traders to swine farm and construction companies, as well as a cement manufacturing company, among many others.
Excelsior Farms, Inc.
Foremost in the list is the modern swine farm located in barangay Sacsac, the Excelsior Farms Inc., considered a leader in the Philippine Swine Industry.
Founded in 2004, the Excelsior Farms Inc. is into swine breeding and is considered the biggest nucleus farm in the Philippines. Its modern facility applies rigorous standards of product safety, involving automated feeding machines, centralized monitoring and control of feeds, water, and temperature.
Excelsior Farms Inc. offers variety of products and services, namely Breeders (Gilts and Boars) for reproduction, Slaughter Hogs for meat supply in the market and Premium Liquid Genes for semen availability for artificial insemination.
At an initial investment of approximately P300 million, it is currently the biggest among Pinamungajan’s top taxpayers (2017 list).
Century Peak Corporation
Another huge investment pouring in for Pinamungajan, at P10.9 billion, is the cement manufacturing company Century Peak Corporation.
With an office located in barangay Sacsac, the company is currently one of the biggest employers in Pinamungajan, a direct employment opportunity that has long been needed by a town who has supplied a huge percentage of manpower to the cities. It was given a notice of award by the Philippine Mining Corporation to undertake the exploration, development, and mining operations of a 4,795-hectare Pinamungahan limestone property.
The P10.9-billion Pinamungajan project of the Century Peak Corporation was listed by the Board of Investments Cebu Office for the first quarter of 2018.
The manufacturing company, which is expected to generate thousands of jobs, will surely be a an impetus for a stronger economic progress for the town.
